The Holiday Programme at the Bothasig Library ran during the school holidays from 22 to 31 March. The Programme was a joint project between the Department of Social Development, SAPS and the City of Cape Town.
Children from Bothasig and the surrounding areas were treated to an assortment of activities from arts and crafts to cake decorating, an easter egg hunt, storytelling and movies as well as fun and games. The aim of the programme was to equip children with useful life skills which they were taught through the fun and games relating to everyday activities. The children were also treated to a visit from Bothasig SAPS to talk to them about safety.
The Holiday Programme was well attended and Ward Councillor Helen Carstens made a stop by to say hi to the kids. She was very impressed with the turn out and with the content of the programme which left the children with valuable life skills. “It is wonderful to see the participation of the children in this programme which provides so much more than fun and games,” said Cllr Carstens, “and I would like to commend the staff from the Department of Social Development for the well-presented activities and lessons that they put forward.”
