Ward Councillor Helen Carstens hosted an event at the Bothasig Community Hall for the seniors in the area. The seniors were treated to cakes and refreshments along with music and song.
Cllr Carstens said that seniors hold years of wisdom and knowledge and they are indeed the bedrock of society.
Former Ward Councillor Alderman James Vos was also in attendance and said it was great to see his successor, Cllr Carstens, who worked with him for so many years, in action.
Cllr Carstens informed the gathering on the progress of the Bothasig Clinic that is in the process of being taken over by the Provincial Health Department. She explained that the process which entails a number of legal steps is absolutely on track. She assured and further added that the Provincial Health Department was busy putting all their plans in order so that once the legislation is in place, the transfer will be smooth.
“I am still keeping my finger on the pulse and will be sure to keep everyone informed as to what is happening and when. I discourage people from speculating about a specific date. Because as there are a number of variables in the process – for example the legal aspect, it is impossible to set a specific date. Suffice to say that when the processes are final, the change will take place,” explained Cllr Carstens.
